Founded in 2000 by Matthieu Ricard, Karuna-Shechen takes action and pleads for a more altruistic world.

In India and Nepal, our association contributes to breaking the cycle of extreme povrety through a local, community and holistic approach, interconnecting the Health and Hygiene sectors with Education, Food Security, Economic Development and Environment. 

In 2022, we accompanied more than 6700,000 people, including 251,200 direct beneficiaries, and cared for 10,900 animals.
