Hi All,
Re: Lands End to John O'Groats bike ride over 12 days this July
When a couple of people suggested this mad escapade could be used for good it seemed daft not to, even though I still have bad memories of various sponsored events back as a kid - a decade or so ago (!!). Luckily after many years it's also been long enough for the 108 mile Dartmoor Classic to have faded from my mind (hence the somewhat grim picture) - as the last day of this will be more miles than that.
TED speaker Matthieu Ricard gave a talk at an event I attended a couple of years ago. His Karuna-Shechen charity provides an inspiring mix of localism in action, supporting education, organic vegetables and health services in a culturally sensitive context. They are working toward building a better future for those in Tibet, Nepal and India - as detailed further down the page.
My 'target' is a Euro for every couple of miles. While the key thing will be the challenge of the hardest physical event I've yet attempted, it would be wonderful to also improve the lives of those facing much more fundamental challenges daily.
Thanks for your attention and please do choose to support this terrific cause if you can.
